ICONIC ITALIAN DESIGNER
Milvia means designs for fashion and for the home, a whole world of stylish characters and beautiful abstract patterns from the Fifties until now.
Milvia’s reknown collections were produced in the 1950s until the 1970s. La Settimana di Milvia (“Milvia’s Week”) was produced and distributed by Zucchi Milano for many years – and it still sells for high numbers on vintage websites.
After Milvia took a long break from design, a renewed interest about her work emerged from the internet: for instance Mark Hill, antiques expert and BBC presenter, investigating on her ceramic and fabric designs and Nice&Fancy, surface pattern designer, blogging about La Settimana di Milvia.
For this reason, we decided to uncover the wealth of unpublished Milvia designs – now available for purchase on Spoonflower, where you can find ready made items like tablecloths or duvet covers, but also plain fabrics by the metre to get creative!

WHO IS MILVIA?
Passionate about drawing already in primary school, Milvia did not loose her skills with adolescence, when a long illness contributed to the final decision: art school. Even if trained as ceramic decorator, she always wished to set her creativity “free from matter”.
Printed fabrics and pattern design offered this opportunity and launched her distinctive style internationally. Milvia designs have been printed since by leading manufactures in Italy and the US.
Products include patterns, scarves, apparel, home linens, dishes.
